Florida Sales Tax Holiday: Tax-Free Gun Cleaning Kits

September 1 – December 31, 2026

Good news for Florida customers: gun cleaning kits are exempt from Florida sales tax during the state’s 2026 Hunting, Fishing, and Camping Sales Tax Holiday (often called the Second Amendment Sales Tax Holiday). That means no state sales tax and no county surtax on qualifying cleaning kits through the end of the year.

What qualifies from Real Avid

Florida’s guidance lists cleaning kits as an eligible firearm accessory. That covers our complete cleaning kits, including:

There is no price cap on firearm accessories, so higher-end kits qualify the same as entry-level ones.

What doesn’t qualify

Florida limits this exemption to the specific items it names. Anything not on the state’s list stays taxable, including:

  • Cleaning solvents, oils, lubricants, and CLP sold on their own
  • Individual tools, picks, brushes, and multi-tools sold on their own
  • Field guides and other printed materials

About bundles: under Florida’s rules, when an eligible item is normally sold in a set with taxable items, the whole set is taxable. Some of our collections combine cleaning kits with other tools, so they may not qualify even though a kit is included.

Ordering online

  • Order date is what counts. Florida treats an online order as placed during the holiday once it’s confirmed, as long as it’s for immediate shipment, even if it arrives after December 31.
  • Shipping charges: shipping is split proportionally across the items in your order, and the share tied to exempt items is exempt too.
  • Personal use only: the holiday doesn’t apply to purchases for commercial use.
  • Exchanges: swapping an eligible item for the same item after the holiday stays tax-free. Returning it for credit toward a non-eligible item means the new item is taxed.
